Abstract

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired neuropathy believed to be caused by immune-mediated damage to peripheral myelin. The clinical presentation is that of a sensorimotor polyneuropathy with slow onset, and chronic progressive or relapsing remitting course. Markedly decreased nerve conduction velocities and cytoalbuminologic dissociation of the cerebrospinal fluid are supportive findings.
We recently experienced a case of CIDP diagnosed by sensorimotor symptoms and signs, cytoalbuminologic dissociation on the CSF examination, decreased NCV, and sural nerve biopsy findings. We present the case with the review of the literature.
